Your application has been sent to the Department of Home Affairs for identity verification. This is triggered when your details don't fully match DHA records, or there's an expired ID or duplicate record.

Next step: This is NOT a rejection. About 90% of referred applications are approved. Wait 2–4 weeks. If it persists, visit Home Affairs with your ID.

❌ Declined

Your application was not approved. SASSA declines approximately 17 million applications per month — many due to system cross-referencing errors, not actual ineligibility.

💳 Bank Details Pending

You're approved but haven't submitted valid banking details. SASSA cannot process your payment.

🚫 Self Exclusion Response Found

SASSA's automated system identified that you earn above R624/month, receive UIF/NSFAS, or answered the screening questionnaire incorrectly. This can also be triggered by dormant business registrations or one-off payments.

✅ SRD Grant Extended to March 2027

President Ramaphosa confirmed the SRD grant extension during the 2026 State of the Nation Address. R36.4 billion has been allocated to continue payments at R370/month through 31 March 2027. The amended regulations were published for public comment in February 2026.

💰 SRD Stays at R370 — No Increase

While other grants increase from April 2026 (Old Age/Disability +R80 to R2,400, Child Support +R20 to R580), the SRD grant remains frozen at R370. The means test threshold also stays at R624/month, though a court has ruled this unconstitutional and government is appealing.

🔒 SASSA Fraud Crackdown — 34,661 Grants Cancelled

SASSA has cross-checked 6 million bank accounts and 8 million credit bureau records. Over 34,000 fraudulent grants have been cancelled, saving R170.7 million. 👤 eKYC Biometric Verification Now Mandatory

Since September 2025, all SRD applicants and beneficiaries must complete electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification — a fingerprint or facial scan. Incomplete eKYC causes payment delays and keeps your status as "Pending". Complete it via the SASSA portal on your smartphone or visit a SASSA office in person.
