Get Cultured At Cape Town’s Hottest New Wine Bar

With the calamity that 2020 has caused across our beloved South African wine industry, it was with great excitement that Glou Glou received an invitation to not only a social event, but holy smokes, to the opening of a new WINE BAR.

Culture Wine Bar is an exciting new collaborative venture between two friends and long-time vineophiles Chef Matt Manning and Chris Groenewald. Located along the culture vulture strip that is Bree Street, Culture Wine Bar fills up the second and third floors of a heritage building.

We love it for its carefully curated and extensive wine list, that brings together some of the Cape’s freshest and juiciest wine offerings. You’ll love it for the hygge-rich ambiance (perfect for a romantic date night) and Matt Mannings devilishly delicious snazzy bar snacks (try the arancini & aioli, drool).

Despite the difficulties and set-backs that COVID-19 has caused for so many, we were delighted to be reminded that the wine industry is much like a grapevine – resilient, knows how to weather a storm, and rich with flavour. We encourage you to #supportlocal this festive season and while you’re at it, #getcultured.
